About Us

A Message From President David Schmitz

If not for the Brazos Valley Booster Club, there would be no Aggie Bombers. More than 30 years ago, a group of dedicated parents saw a need. Their children with intellectual disabilities were graduating from high school and aging out of school-sponsored Special Olympics programs. At that time, most sports programs ended at age 18, leaving these adults without a team, without training, and without the joy of competition. Those parents came together in 1989 and formed the Brazos Valley Booster Club. What began as a grassroots effort has grown into a vital, volunteer-led organization that now supports more than 100 athletes across eight sports. We provide everything our athletes need to train and compete:
structure, coaching, mentorship, equipment, uniforms, transportation, competition costs, meals, and community.

Our athletes are age 18 and older, and many have been with us for decades. Some are now in their 50s and still proudly wearing the Bomber uniform. My son Michael participates in basketball and cycling. As long as our athletes are willing and able to play, they are part of the team—because here, there’s no upper age limit and no expiration on inclusion. The need is growing in the Brazos Valley, and your continued financial support, membership, and volunteerism make it all possible. We are deeply grateful for every family, coach, and sponsor who believes in this mission. And we are especially thankful for Coach Gary Blair and Gary Blair Charities, whose generosity sustains and strengthens our program year after year.

Thank you for standing with us.
We hope you’ll join us—and cheer on the Bombers!

With appreciation,
Coach Dave

With Sincere Gratitude

For years, Coach Gary Blair and Coach Blair Charities have been among the Brazos Valley Booster Club’s most generous and steadfast friends. Their support has helped create countless opportunities for our athletes to train, compete and succeed—but Coach Blair’s impact goes far beyond financial contributions. He shows up, celebrates our athletes and has become a genuine friend to many of them. We are deeply grateful for his enduring commitment to our athletes and our Special Olympics community.

The Brazos Valley Booster Club Board of Directors provides leadership and support for our mission to create meaningful opportunities for Special Olympics athletes throughout the Brazos Valley. Board members work together to guide the organization, support our coaches and volunteers, oversee resources and fundraising, and help ensure our athletes have the opportunities they need to train, compete, build friendships and thrive.
